Utah Golf Association names 2022 Players of the Year and Service Award winners
The Utah Golf Association (UGA), the governing body of amateur golf in Utah, has named the 2022 Players of the Year and Service Award winners today.
Annually, men, senior men, women, and senior women compete in hopes of finishing at the top of the UGA’s Player Performance Rankings in their respective divisions. Players at the top of the rankings at the end of Utah’s golf season etch their name in history, earning the coveted UGA Player of the Year Award.
The 2022 Players of the Year are Kelsey Chugg (women), Annette Gaiotti (senior women), Zac Jones (men) and Shane McMillan (senior men). Chugg, the associate director of Salt Lake City’s golf division, won her fifth career Utah Women’s State Amateur championship this year while Jones, a sophomore on the Brigham Young University men’s golf team, won the 124th annual Utah State Amateur. Gaiotti, has now won the Senior Women’s Player of the Year for the seventh time and for the fourth year in a row. McMillan won multiple times on Utah’s senior golf circuit this year and plays regularly at Bountiful Ridge Golf Course. Each award winner won multiple times this year during Utah’s amateur golf season including UGA championship events.
Karen Gardiner’s work with six local and statewide golf groups validates her selection as the UGA’s 2022 Gold Club Award winner, the association’s highest honor. The UGA Gold Club award is presented annually to an individual who through significant achievement or unselfish service has contributed to the history and tradition of the game of golf in Utah, and whose personal integrity, sportsmanship, common courtesy, loyalty and friendship earn the love and respect of fellow golfers.
Annually the UGA recognizes one volunteer who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and contribution to the UGA with the Volunteer of the Year award. This year, Jim Kaiserman, a resident of Midway, Utah and a long-time UGA golf course rater, having joined in nearly 80 course ratings throughout Utah, has been chosen to receive the award.
Terry Norman Hansen, has been named the UGA Lady award recipient. This award honors a woman UGA member for giving back to the Utah golf community. The award is based on the recipient’s participation, giving back to women’s golf, passion, love and respect for the game, teamwork that makes a difference and being a friend, leader and inspiration to peers.
Each award winner will be recognized at the annual awards banquet scheduled for early next year.
