Cooper Jones Captures St. George Amateur

In the second amateur championship of the year, BYU men’s golf freshman Cooper Jones shot rounds of 65-65 to win the St. George Amateur Jan. 13th at (-15) 130.

Cooper had finished in 5th pace a week earlier at the Coral Canyon Amateur on rounds of 66-70. A late bogey, on his 17th hole in the final round at Coral Canyon kept Jones from four consecutive rounds in the 60s in the two events.

Cooper Jones, a former UGA Player of the Year, is a combined 23-under in two PPR events in 2024.

Over two weekends he’s made 28 birdies versus just four bogeys. His game seems to be a great shape heading into qualifying events for the Cougars first event of the spring collegiate season, Jan. 29-30 at the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson.
