Hastings, Liechty, Schone Represent UGA at Prestigious Pacific Coast Amateur
At the 59th Pacific Coast Amateur, held July 21–24 at Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore, California, the Utah Golf Association team of Peyton Hastings, David Liechty and Noah Schone finished 10th in the 36-hole Morse Cup Team competition.
The UGA team posted rounds of 141-141 for a 2-over-par total of 282. Northern California Golf Association won the annual team competition at 11-under-par 269.

Individually, Schone finished tied for 47th at 3-over-par 283 after rounds of 68-72-68-75 in the 72-hole championship. Hastings and Liechty did not advance to the final 36 holes after missing the cut.
Jaden Dumdumaya, a rising junior at the University of Southern California, claimed the title at the 59th Pacific Coast Amateur, one of North America’s oldest and most prestigious amateur championships and part of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
With the victory, Dumdumaya became the first player to win back-to-back Pacific Coast Amateur championships since Billy Mayfair accomplished the feat in 1987-88. Dumdumaya joins Mayfair and Mike Davis (1969-70) as the only players to win consecutive Pacific Coast Amateur titles.
Following the final round, Schone reflected on his play in a post on his Instagram account, saying, “I hit the ball pretty solid but just put myself in tough spots on the greens and did’t make any putts … the championship was one of the funniest event I’ve ever played in and to make the cut against some of the best players in the world is a pretty good feeling.”
Team Utah traveled with UGA Board members Rick Shew and Mark Meidell, along with UGA staff members Chase Hansen and Max Butcher.
