Checking a Big one off the List. Zach Johnson adds the City Open to his win column.

Zach Johnson has won nearly every big golf tournament in Utah, including the Utah Open, the Utah PGA Section and Match-Play championships as well as numerous Opens around the state.

One that eluded him has been the Salt Lake City Open. That is, until Sunday when Johnson captured the tournament, sponsored by Summit Sotheby’s International, at Bonneville Golf Course.

The 38-year-old Johnson, who became the head professional at Davis Park Golf Course earlier this year, fired a two-day total of 11-under 132 to defeat Steele DeWald and Kelton Hirsch by two strokes and win the $5,000 first prize.

“This is one that is nice to add,” Johnson said. “This definitely feels good. To be honest, I didn’t know if I would ever get it, so it’s nice to check it off the list.”
