Ryan Budge’s 68 Earns Medalist Honors at Glen Eagle Qualifier

SYRACUSE, Utah – June 19th, 2019 – On a hot day in mid June at Glen Eagle for a Utah State Am qualifier, Ryan Budge bogeyed his 2nd hole.  That could have been detrimental to his entire round in years past, but that wasn’t the case this time.  He birdied the next hole and carded 4 more birdies for a round of 4-under-par (68).

“Sometimes I self-sabotage, I mean right out the gate I was already one over,” Budge said.  “I just had to suck it up.  I told myself to hang in there.  I was able to birdie the next hole and as the day went on, my swing loosened up and I started to get a groove going.”

This is Budge’s 5th year qualifying for the Utah State Am, having only made the match play portion once before.  If he plays like he did today though, he likes his chances of making it to match play.

“To have a shaky start like I did today and to bounce back the way I did is a confidence boost, ” Budge said.  “I’ll do a couple practice rounds up there at Soldier Hollow and I’ll take this positive experience with me moving forward.”

5 players finished tied for second with impressive rounds of 3-under (69): Jalen Martinez (Youth on Course), Kellan Bumstead (Eagle Lake GC), Ryan Seamons (Youth on Course), Joshua Lillywhite (Riverside CC) and Eric Loveland (Alpine CC).

27 players out of the field of 84 qualified for the 121st Utah State Amateur.  View the full results here: https://www.golfgenius.com/pages/1832484
