Taft Tallies Lowest Score at Stonebridge

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – West Bountiful native Tanner Taft shot 67 at the Stonebridge State Am Qualifier to earn medalist honors.  His round started hot as he birdied the 2nd and 3rd hole with his only bogey occurring at the 7th. The turn saw him catch fire again as he scored three birdies in a row on holes 9-11.  Taft’s final birdie came on the 17th hole, giving him a round of 5-under-par.  Tanner will be hoping to recreate the magic of his first State Am tournament in 2017 which saw him reach the quarterfinals.

Not far from Tanner was Nathan Wunderli (Willow Creek CC) who posted a 3-under round of 69.  It was up and down for him throughout his round as he was able to eagle the 9th hole, but then double-bogey the 14th.

3rd place in the qualifier belonged to John Reid (East Bay GC).  He shot 2-under (70) for the day and 4th place was claimed by Sam Haslam (Mountail Dell GC) as he scored a 1-under round of 71.
