Lundell Only Player Under Par in St. George

St. George, UT – On a hot, windy day in southern Utah, only one player managed an under-par score. BYU’s Carson Lundell is no stranger to competing on the State Amateur stage as he was the stroke play medalist by a wide margin in 2016 at Alpine Country Club.  Lundell managed two birdies and an eagle in route to a 1-under 70 and medalist honors at the SunRiver qualifier.

Fourteen players advanced to the Finals at Soldier Hollow in July, many familiar names among them.  Former State Amateur runner up Christian Jensen, along with other southern Utah standouts Jaden Milne, Ben Jorgensen, Caden Hamill and Tyson Tanner all punched tickets to the show.

SunRiver GC is a staple for UGA tournaments in St. George and once again, the course did not disappoint.  With greens running north of 11.5 on the stimpmeter and the rye fairways lush from recent rains, it was a perfect test of golf for the field.
