Utah Golf Wraps Up Action at The Goodwin

SAN FRANCISCO – The Utah men's golf team wrapped up competition at The Goodwin on Saturday, finishing in a tie for 21st place at the three-day, 54-hole event that was held at the TPC Harding Golf Course in San Francisco, Calif.

Utah carded 19-over par (303) in the final round of play to finish the event with a combined score of 35-over par (298-286-303=887) on the par-71, 7,143-yard course.
“We really struggled on the back nine each round,” explained Utah head coach Garrett Clegg. “Overall, it was not a good performance for us. We will be coming home and regrouping after this week to find ways to improve. We have a lot to work on, but we can bounce back and get better.”
Freshman Blake Tomlinson had the best round of the day for the Utes, registering 1-over par (72) in the final 18 holes. Tomlinson finished in a tie for 59th place with a three-day score of 5-over par (75-71-72=218).
Junior Kyler Dunkle recorded 3-over par (74) in the third round to finish the event at 6-over par (70-75-74=219). Dunkle finished in a tie for 65th overall.
Freshman Tristan Mandur carded a third-round score of 5-over par (76) on Saturday to place in a tie for 92nd overall. Mandur recorded a combined score of 10-over par (78-69-76=223) for the event.
Sophmore Jordan Costello finished in a tie for 126th place with a combined score of 20-over par (75-71-87=233). Freshman Andrew Crockett rounded out the Utes this weekend in San Francisco, finishing in 132nd place with a combined score of 23-over par (80-75-81=236).

No. 9 Oklahoma took home the team title, placing first in the 26-team field with a score of 24-under par. No. 11 California (-21) finished second, tournament host No. 20 Stanford (-16) followed in third place, Oregon (-10) placed fourth overall, and UNLV (-3) finished in fifth place to round out the top-five teams. 

The Utes will be back in action in two weeks at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational. The two-day event will take place Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15.
