By Marcus Wenger, Boatwright Intern
Nate Herzog’s consistent play at the Utah Senior State Amateur Qualifier at Glen Eagle Golf Club helped him stay bogey free and take home medalist honors in the Championship division. Herzog finished the day with an incredible four-under 68. Mike Holm and Eldon Richter finished two strokes behind Herzog tied for second place at two-under 70. Overall, the field was highly competitive with a cut line of 73 (+1).
In the Super Senior division, Ruben Escobedo and Mike O’Keefe pushed ahead of the pack to card 69 (-3) for the day. Other qualifiers include Kurt Bernhisel, Heber Jacobsen and Vern Erickson.
The Net division was led by Craig Sorenson who carded a 67 net. Doug Beck earned the second qualifying spot at 69 net. The third and final qualifying spot was decided by a six-hole, sudden-death playoff between James Fleming and Dennis Jones that ended with a par putt by Fleming.
