Thunderbirds Finish Competition At Wyoming Cowboy Classic

CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Thunderbird men’s golf team wrapped up competition at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Tuesday afternoon, finishing the event in 13th place as a team.
The Thunderbirds were led by Fidel Concepcion and Jake Vincent, who both finished the event with a two-over 218. Concepcion (73, 73, 72) and Vincent (74, 72, 72) ended play on Tuesday in a tie for 31st.
Ali Hameed was third for the Thunderbirds and in a tie for 45th overall after shooting a combined 221 (74, 70, 77).
Christian Karren finished Tuesday with a 77 to bring his three-round total to 233 (79, 77, 77). Bradley Collet shot his lowest round of the event on Tuesday, closing play with a 76 to bring his event total to 238 (81, 81, 76).
As a team the Thunderbirds finished with an 889 (300, 292, 297) to finish in 13th place. The Thunderbirds finished ahead of Big Sky opponents Weber State and Idaho.
UC Santa Barbara won the event as a team and had the top player in the field as well. They shot 843 (285, 286, 272) as a group and Zach Smith won the event by shooting a three-round score of 206 (71, 68, 67).
The next event on the calendar for the men’s golf team will be the 2017 Big Sky Conference Championships in Boulder City, Nevada. That event is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 28th.
