Finau Wins Stonebrae Title by 3; Moves into Top Ten on Web.com Tour

Tony Finau won the biggest tournament of his life Sunday at the Stonebrae Classic on the Web.com Tour. The win, and first place prize money of $109,000, moves him up to eighth on the Web.com Tour player rankings. The top 25 earn tour cards for the next year. There are still eight tournaments remaining on the schedule. He has now won $238,000 for the year.
Finau’s final round of 66 earned him a comfortable three stroke victory over Fabian Gomez, Zach Suchor, and Daniel Berger.
He shot rounds of 67-62-63-66-258. He had 28 birdies.
Zac Blair finished with a four day scorecard of 65-70-69-72-276 and finished in 62nd place.
Next week the Web.com Tour moves to the Price Cutter Charity Championship in Springfield, Missouri at the Highland Springs CC.

Saturday, August 2, 2014 Tony Finau Leads Going Into Final Round Stonebrae Classic
Tony Finau has crafted a one shot lead going into Sunday’s final round of the Stonebrae Classic in Hayward, California. His one shot lead is made even more precarious with three players sitting just one notch under the catbird seat.
His final round 63 was marred only by a bogey on the par five ninth hole. His second round of 62 was bogey free.
Trailing Finau by only one shot are Daniel Berger, Nickolas Lundheim, and Fabian Gomex.
Zac Blair is tied for 45th place.

PGA TOUR RECAP
Mike Weir improved on his round one at the Barracuda Championship by taking home 10 points in the second round and easity made the cut with a total of 14 points.  Dean Wilson missed the cut with a -1 point total.  Full results can be found HERE.
 
WEB.COM TOUR RECAP
Tony Finau shot a second round 62 and catapulted from 31st place to third place at the halfway point in the Stonebrau Classic on the Web.com PGA Tour. He is three shots behind the leader, Fabian Gomez, who bested Finau’s 62 with a 60. He stands at 14 under par while Finau is 11 under par.
Zac Blair made his fifth straight cut on the Web.com Tour and stands 37th place at five under par. He opened with a strong 65, but slipped to an even par round of 70 Friday.
The tournament is being played in Hayward, California on the TPC Stonebrau course.

Mike Weir sits in 78th place after round one of the Barracuda Championship with 4 points.  Dean Wilson is in 103rd position with a -1 point performance.  This event uses the modified stableford scoring system where players earn points for birdies, eagles and double eagles.  For full field results click HERE

Zac Blair shot a five under 65 for a tie for ninth place after the first round of the Stonebrae Classic on the Web.com Tour. Tony Finau shot 67 and is tied for 36th place. There are four tied for the lead at 63, including Scott Pinckney, a former Utah Junior Golf Association player, now from Arizona.
