Busby Drives Green, Makes Eagle, To Win SG Am

Going onto the last hole in the St. George Amateur John Busby was tied or within one stroke of five former or current members of the BYU golf team.

His last hole of the shotgun start was the first hole, a short par four that played at about 325 yards. He drove the green and made his putt for an eagle to win the tournament by one shot.

Busby claimed the title with a nine under par tally of 70-67-137. The four Cougars, Zac Blair, Greg Hunt, Jordan Rodgers, and Brady Johnson with Dixie State player Kyle Chappell all finished at 138.

Blair, who won the previous week at Coral Canyon, led after the first round with a six under par 67 and had a three shot lead on the field. The final round he shot a two under par 71 and left the door open just enough for Busby to sneak in and win the title.

Defending champion Darrin Overson, who won last year with an 11 under tally of 135, finished at 143 in seventh place.
