Thunderbirds Complete First Of Two Events In St. George

ST. GEORGE, Utah – Play wrapped up at the BYU at Entrada Classic on Tuesday afternoon, as Southern Utah’s women’s golf team finished in a tie for 10th.

The Thunderbirds showed improvement on Tuesday, and moved up one spot from their finish on Monday with a final team score of 931 (319, 310, 302). They were tied for 10th with Boise State.

Taylor Viquelia was the top Thunderbird on the leaderboard, as she finished in a tie for 13th. Viquelia shot her lowest round of the event on Tuesday, wrapping up play with a 73. She finished with a total of 223 (75, 75, 73).

Poy Prasurtwong was second for the Thunderbirds, shooting a three-round total of 226 (77, 74, 75). She finished in 21st after closing out the event with a 75.

Miranda Reyes finished the event in a tie for 47th. She did shoot her lowest round of the event on Tuesday, as she finished the third with a 76. She finished competition with a 238 (82, 80, 76).

Kyla Smith and Nicole Jones finished the event in a tie for 58th, as they both shot 246. Smith went 85-81-80 and Jones finished 86-82-78.

Thunderbird Ashley Stubbs played as an individual at the event, finish with a 263 (86, 90, 87).

Kent State was able to win the event by shooting 866 (289, 286, 291). They were followed by Brigham Young (879) and Tulsa (906).

Kent State also had the top player on the leaderboard, with Karoline Stormo winning the event.

The Thunderbirds will be in St. George for the remainder of the week, as they will now gear up to host the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational. The event will be on Thursday and Friday at Sunbrook Golf Club, with action getting underway Thursday at noon and Friday at 8 a.m.
