Raga’s 73 Highlights UVU’s Final Day in Hawai’i

KAPALUA, Hawai'i – Sophomore Ana Raga highlighted Utah Valley University's final day at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at The Bay Course at Kapalua Golf Club in Maui, Hawai'i, by firing a final-round 1-over-par 73 on Wednesday.
 
With the solid 1-over 73, Raga finished in a tie for 53rd place with fellow UVU sophomore Carly Dehlin to lead the way for the Wolverines at the highly competitive three-day event. 
 
Raga carded 15 pars and one birdie during Wednesday's final round to post the strong finish. She also recorded scores of 79 and 83 at the 54-hole tournament to finish with a three-round total of 19-over-par (235). Dehlin too finished with a 19-over 235 after posting scores of 79, 79 and 77. The Wolverine sophomore carded a total of five birdies at the event, including three during Wednesday's final round.
 
Utah Valley freshmen Kaylee Shimizu and Justine Lauer were next for the Wolverines by tying for 71st place at 27-over-par (243). In her return to her home island of Maui, Shimizu posted scores of 77, 80 and 86 en route to her earning her 243 while Lauer put up scores of 83, 84 and a final-round 76 (+4) on Wednesday to tie for 71st.
 
Senior Kimberly Nyhus (81-88-80—249) and fellow Hawaiian Isabella Lesa (86-88-89—263) rounded out UVU's competitors at the event by placing 83rd and 88th, respectively.
 
As a team, the Wolverines leapfrogged fellow WAC foe Seattle U during Wednesday's final round to finish the event in 13th place. UVU posted a three-round tally of 948 (+84) after recording single-round scores of 316, 326 and a final-round 306 (+18).
 
No. 7 UCLA won the tournament by carding a 12-under-par 852 (291-281-280), while No. 4 Arizona State finished second at 5-over (297-283-289—869) and San José State took third at 13-over (293-292-292—877). Colorado finished in fourth place after carding a 20-over 884 (293-297-294) while the top-ranked Stanford Cardinal took fifth at 23-over (299-292-296—887).
 
UCLA's 15th-ranked Lilia Vu took home individual medalist honors at 12-under-par (67-66-71—204).
 
The Wolverines will now return to Orem before heading to Arizona for their final two tournaments of the regular season on April 6-7 and April 10-11. UVU will first take part in the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa before participating in the Bobcat Spring Invitational at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear. The 2017 WAC Championship will then run April 19-21 at the Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kansas.
