2011 Utah Women’s State Amateur Champion Julie McMullin of Park City, Utah, qualified for the match play portion of the 2017 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur at Waverley Country Club in Portland, Oregon. McMullin carded a first-round 78 and a final-round 85 to clinch the last qualifying spot in a seven-way, sudden-death playoff at T59. On Waverley’s No. 9, a 127-yard par-3, Julie made par alongside four opponents to advance. Courtney Myhrum and Gigi Higgins made bogey and headed to No. 10, and Myhrum made par to qualify.

Julie McMullin faced Tara Fleming or Jersey City, New Jersey, in the Round of 64. Fleming went 1up on the first hole of the day, but McMullin won No. 4 to return the match to all square. Through nine holes, the match was all square. Tara won No. 10 and Julie won No. 13. The match was back and forth through 15 holes until Tara Fleming went 1up on 16 and stayed up to win the match 1up over Utah’s Julie McMullin.

Congratulations to Julie on making match play! The UGA applauds you for your achievement.
