Governor’s Cup

A long-standing tradition in Utah Golf, the amateurs and the professionals duel each year for the right to have their name etched on the Governor’s Cup.

What is the Governor’s Cup?

The UGA and the Utah PGA each season participate in the Governor’s Cup which is a Ryder Cup style format event pitting top amateurs versus the top professionals in Utah. Each team is comprised of the twelve at large members and four senior members. The event consists of morning foursomes matches followed by afternoon four ball matches and singles matches run concurrently.


UGA Selection Process


Each team member must agree to participate in all functions relating to the Governor’s Cup Matches. The selection process will emphasis current UGA Champions and PPR rankings. Participants who qualify as minors will be asked to complete and return waiver information to the UGA. The selection process will emphasis current UGA Champions and PPR rankings. The UGA will only select players with the unquestioned ability to appropriately represent the UGA with character, sportsmanship, and integrity. Primary consideration for selection will be UGA Champions and player performance rankings. The UGA Competitions Committee has the right to exclude any player should they not meet the standards of conduct found in Rule 1.2 of the Rules of Golf or should the UGA competitions committee find they are deficient in character, sportsmanship or integrity.

  • 4 Senior Players to be Selected on August 10


Conditions of Competition:

  • The UGA hard card is in effect
  • In the event of a tie, a hole-by-hole playoff will be conducted. The first hole will be played as foursomes, the second will be four-ball and any subsequent holes will be singles. Each team will pick the players for the playoff.
