By: Tanner Clegg, P.J. Boatwright Intern

Play at the 2017 Spanish Oaks Open concluded over the weekend with low scores found across the board. Todd Tanner claimed the overall title for the Professional’s division with a two-round score of -9, 135.

Eric Rustand and Brady Hughes were the low amateurs for the tournament with a two-round score of -5, 139.

Moody and Fowles held the lead after day one with a two-stroke lead over Sharp, Summerhays, and Stone. This wasn’t enough to stop Tanner from shooting a -8, 64 second round including nine birdies and a eagle to close out his round.

On the amateur side of things, Hughes and Rustand found themselves six shots off the lead of Moody and Fowles but each would shoot a -7, 65 during the second round to claim a share of the title. The two shared the title five strokes ahead of Jon Christensen and six strokes ahead Zach Jones, Eljiah Turner, and Tyler Miner

Hughes and Rustand each earned 35 points with this being a Tier 2 PPR event in the men’s division.
