UGA Player Performance Rankings

The UGA Player Performance Rankings are a season‑long, cumulative points system that measures how Utah’s amateur golfers perform in designated state and regional events.

These rankings are used to identify UGA Players of the Year and help fill spots on UGA traveling teams across men’s, women’s, and senior divisions.

Traveling teams

Each season, players with standout performances in UGA‑designated events are invited to represent Utah on UGA traveling teams. 

Traveling team spots are filled through a combination of championship titles and Player Performance Rankings, giving top amateurs a pathway to compete in prestigious interstate and regional competitions.

Arizona vs. Utah Shootout
The Utah Golf Association and the Arizona Golf Association began this Ryder Cup-style event in 1991 to showcase the top amateur golfers in both states and to build camaraderie amongst the players.

Goddard Cup
Held in memory of Utah women’s golf pioneer Jeannie Goddard, this event features a Ryder Cup-style team competition between the state’s top amateur and professional women golfers.

Governor’s Cup
A long-standing Utah golf tradition, the Governor’s Cup is a Ryder Cup-style event where top amateurs face top professionals, with each team featuring 12 at-large players and 4 seniors.

Senior Team Championship
A national, multi-state championship featuring top Mid-Amateur and Senior Amateur golfers. Invitations are based on state player-of-the-year points and honors awarded for both team performance and individual stroke-play champions.

Pacific Coast Amateur
First played in 1901 and re-established in 1967, this elite championship brings together top amateurs from 18 Pacific Rim golf associations and is widely regarded as one of the world’s premier amateur events.

UGA Players of the Year

Each year, men, senior men, women, and senior women compete throughout the season to climb the UGA Player Performance Rankings in their respective divisions. 

The players who finish on top are named UGA Players of the Year, etching their names into Utah golf history and earning one of the association’s most prestigious honors.
