16-year-old Fires 67, Finishes as Medalist at Fox Hollow Qualifier
Thayer Plewe, 16, had six birdies on his way to shooting -5 (67) to finish as medalist at the Fox Hollow Qualifier on Wednesday. While there were several scores under par, no one came within three strokes of the Orem native with the next lowest score at -2 (70).
Plewe, who started his round on the back nine, was one-under at the turn. It was then that he got hot and had four birdies and five pars on the front nine to finish his round.
The cut came at +4 (76) with 22 players qualifying for the State Am in July at Soldier Hollow Golf Course.
