Difficult Conditions Provide True Test at Homestead Qualifier
Participants battled rain and wind at Monday’s State Am Qualifier at Homestead Golf Club. While E (71) would have been a qualifying score at every other site, it proved to be enough to finish as medalist for Christian James.
It appears that region familiarity was an advantage for players as more than one third of those that qualified hailed from a club in the Park City/Midway area. Among those that qualified was a familiar name for anyone that follows the Senior UGA circuit: Bill Probst. Probst, who shot +6 (77), is currently the oldest player in the field at 67 years old.
The cut came at +8 (79) with 22 players qualifying for the State Am in July at Soldier Hollow Golf Course.
