Noah Schone’s background as a former Pine View High School golf star made him a hometown winner of the Utah Golf Association’s Winterchamps tournament. His updated biography made him an unlikely champion.

Two pairs of brothers finished in the top eight of the men’s division Sunday. The surprise was that Noah and Lucas Schone did more than merely keep up with the Joneses, Zach and Cooper. Noah Schone out-dueled UGA veteran Dan Horner over the last three holes at SunRiver Golf Course, finishing the 36-hole event with 92 points to Horner’s 87 in the Modified Stableford format.

BYU golfers Zach Jones and Keanu Akina tied for third with 86 points, followed by Lucas Schone with 85.
