Landon Anderson and Josh Howe tie for low medalist at Glen Eagle Qualifier

Landon Anderson -5 (67) and Josh Howe -5 (67) each turned in bogey-free rounds to finish as co-medalists at the Utah State Amateur Qualifier at Glen Eagle Golf Club. Anderson was in the second group of the day and so Howe knew for most of his round what it would take to finish as the sole medalist. He mentioned that he was aware of the low score and that motivated him to keep his strong play going.

“The last hole I had about 175 in, so I hit a pitching wedge and was a little too aggressive with it,” recalled Howe, “I knew I was in contention for medalist, so I wanted to go for the green in two, but my approach faded a little too much and ended up in a tough lie in the bunker. Once that happened, I played it safe to get on and two-putt for par.”

Seven players all shot +2 (74) to force a playoff for the final three qualifying spots. Jackson Rooker, Dakota Buckway and Sam Summerhays were able to secure their spot in the State Am within the first two playoff holes.

The cut came at +2 (74) with 23 players qualifying for the State Amateur in July.
