UVU grad Jake Godfrey rides hot start and finish to earn medalist honors at Timpanogos Qualifier
Jake Godfrey -4 (68), who played golf collegiately at Utah Valley University, finished as medalist at the Utah State Amateur Qualifier at Timpanogos Golf Club. It marked the first event that the Utah Golf Association has held at Timpanogos since its redesign was completed in October 2020.
Godfrey started the day in a groove as he birdied his first three holes. He then settled into a nice pace until finishing his round with two straight birdies. Those two birdies allowed him to edge out former University of Utah golfer Steven Croft -2 (70) and former Westminster College’s Tyler Hand -3 (69).
The cut came at +5 (77) with 23 players qualifying for the Utah State Amateur.
