Banz shoots -7, Punches Ticket to Amateur
As the afternoon reached 100 degrees on August 17th, the afternoon qualifier at Glendale for the Utah State Amateur got under way. Atop the leaderboard today sat Hayden Banz, submitting a bogey-free card on his way to a 65 round (-7). Not fair behind were Caysen Wright and Tyler Hand, bothing carding 67 (-5). Wright’s eagle on 16 countered his two bogeys on 4 and 10. While Hand got his score by also going bogey-free.
Rigo Jimenez, Jackson Holman, and Shane Romano all solidified their spots with 68s (-4). The cut was the same as this morning (-3) warranting a 3-person playoff for two spots. Jack Wright and Alex DeBry emerged to claim the final two spots leaving Parker Reese to take the 1st alternate spot. A second, 2-person playoff to fill the last alternate spot was won by Nic Jensen.
