Chugg, Sloot to compete in U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship
By Randy Dodson
The U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball national championship will be contested this weekend, April 27-May 1, at the Timuquana Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida. Utah’s Kelsey Chugg, the assistant Salt Lake City golf director and four-time Utah Women’s State Amateur champion will be in the field as will 2018 Utah Women’s State Amateur runner-up Jessica Sloot.
Chugg, 27, of Salt Lake City, Utah will team with Julia Potter-Bobb, 31, of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Chugg and Potter-Bobb have combined to win three U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur titles, but are teaming up for the first time in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship. Chugg, the 2017 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion and 2018 runner-up, is playing in her 11th USGA championship.
Sloot, a junior playing for Colorado State University and a Davis High School graduate from Fruit Heights, Utah, will team with CSU sophomore teammate Haley Greb. Sloot finished runner-up in the Utah Women’s State Amateur last year to Tess Blair at Bonneville Golf Course in Salt Lake City, Utah. Colorado State teammates Ellen Secor and Katrina Prendergast won the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball championship last spring at El Caballero Country Club and will defend their title this year.
