Dixie State Women’s Golf Finishes T-2nd At CMU RMAC Preview Tuesday

(GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – September 18, 2018) Dixie State’s women’s golf team opened the 2018 fall season with a t-second place finish at the Colorado Mesa-hosted RMAC Fall Preview Tuesday at the par-71 Tiara Rado Golf Course.
The Trailblazers (309-306) moved up four spots up the team leaderboard and improved by three strokes with a second-round 22-over 306, which tied for the second-lowest team score on the day. DSU wound up tied for runner-up honors at plus-47 615 with first round co-leader Colorado State-Pueblo (304-311), 10 shots back of team champion Tampa (304-301), which bested the 17-team field with a two-day total of plus-37 605. Westminster College (306-310-616; +48) followed in fourth place, and Texas A&M-Commerce (306-313-691; +51) and Colorado-Colorado Springs (313-306-691; +51) tied for fifth place overall.
Two Trailblazers finished in the top-10 on the leaderboard, highlighted by sophomore Kaitlynn Deeble (74-74), who carded her second-straight round of 3-over 74 with one birdie and 13 pars to place solo fifth at plus-6 148. Senior Katie Ford (78-72) rolled in a team-high three birdies on her back nine as part of a 1-over 72 day to vault 13 spots to finish eighth-overall at plus-8 150. Sophomore Cailyn Cardall (79-81) wound up in a six-way tie for 35th at plus-18 160, followed by junior Ashley Fernandez (78-83-161; +19) in t-41st, and freshman Cayla Clark (84-79-163; +21) finished in a pack of eight golfers tied for 46th in her first collegiate event.
Dixie State will host the Fifth-Annual Dixie State University Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 1-2, at The Golf Course at Sand Hollow Resort in Hurricane, Utah.
