Mid-Season Update on SUU Women’s Golf

CEDAR CITY, Utah — For their second tournament in a row the Thunderbird women’s golf team will be heading back to Arizona to compete in the 2018 Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. The event will be played at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes in Maricopa, Arizona from April 2-3.
Last Time Out
The Thunderbirds most recently competed at the Red Rocks Invitational hosted by NAU. At the event, SUU sophomore Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong finished in a tie for third on the leaderboard shooting a 226 (80, 74, 72).
Nicole Jones was second for the Thunderbirds at the event, shooting a 233 (78, 75, 80).
As a team the Thunderbirds shot a 944 (313, 307, 324) to finish the event in a tie for sixth. They tied with Big Sky foe Montana.
Tournament Preview: 2018 Wyoming Cowgirl Classic
The 2018 edition of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic will be a two-day, three-round event played at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
There will be a shotgun start on both days at 8:30 a.m. MT.
Participating Teams: Boise State, Cal State Northridge, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Montana, Montana State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Portland State, Rutgers, Sam Houston State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle, Southern Utah, Sacramento State, UT Arlington, UTEP and Wyoming
Projected Lineup
Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong, Kyla Smith, Nicole Jones, Miranda Reyes and Lindsay Aleman

Last Year @ The Cowgirl Classic
The Thunderbirds finished in a tie for sixth place last season at the Cowgirl Classic, shooting an 899 (307, 295, 297) as a team. Former T-Bird Taylor Viquelia shot a 222 (74, 76, 72) to set the pace for the team and finish in 13th place.
Reyes shot a 225 (75, 73, 77) finishing second for the Thunderbirds and 24th in the field. Prasurtwong was third for SUU shooting a 226 (79, 76, 71).
