Utah Valley Men’s Golf finishes 14th in 19-team field at Gene Miranda Falcon Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Utah Valley shot a final-round score of 11-over-par 299 on Sunday to finish 14th in the 19-team field at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at Eisenhower Golf Course on the campus of the Air Force Academy.
The Wolverines finished 14th ahead of Weber State, Utah State, Northern Iowa, Southern Utah and SIU Edwardsville. Wyoming won the team title with an impressive score of 29-under-par 835. Colorado State took second place at 24-under-par 840, while Colorado finished third at 21-under-par 843.
Blair Bursey led the Wolverines on Sunday with a final-round 2-under-par 70. The senior carded three of his four birdies on the back nine. He also registered 12 pars on the day. Bursey finished the tournament in a tie for 35th with a three-round score of one-over-par 217 (72-75-70).
Ariel Elftman-Hanson had the best finish of the tournament for Utah Valley as he finished the tournament with a 4-over-par 76 on Sunday. Elftman-Hanson finished tied for 29th in the 111-player field with a three-day total of even par 216 (72-68-76). His 4-under-par 68 in Saturday's second round was the lowest round of the tournament for the Wolverines.
Cedric Laverdure shot 5-over-par 77 in Sunday's final round and finishied in a tie for 79th with a three-round 9-over-par 225 (73-75-77). Freshman Jake Bryson carded a final-round 9-over-par 81 in the final round and finished tied for 88th with a three-round score of 13-over-par 229 (75-73-81). The tournament marked Bryson's first-ever collegiate tournament.
Nick St. Clair, also playing in his first tournament for UVU, finished the tournament with a final-round score of 4-over-par 76. He finished the tournament tied for 102nd with a three-round 17-over-par 233 (77-80-76).
Wyoming's John Murdock took home medalist honors with a three-round 14-under-par 202 (67-65-70).
Next up for Utah Valley will be the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational at Colorado National Golf Club, Sept. 25-26, in Boulder, Colo.
