As the month of June finally comes to a close, our season of State Amateur Qualifiers has finally wrapped up with the Last Chance Qualifier at Glendale Golf Course. Alex Grange took home medalist honors with a six-under 66 that featured no bogeys and six birdies. In a full field that only saw eight open spots plus two alternate spots for the State Amateur Championship, all qualifying scores came in under par.
Kenny Hilton came up just short of medalist honors with a five-under score of 67 with an amazing seven birdies but two bogeys. Logan Skalka and Nathan Wunderli both tied for third with an under par score of 68. Tyler Jones, Derek Penman, and Cameron Hamill claimed the next three spots all with a three-under 69. A playoff was set at a two-under score of 70, with five players vying for one qualifying spot and two alternates. The last qualifying spot was decided two holes into the four-hole playoff, with Jason Struck birdying the par 4, Hole 2 to get himself in to the State Amateur Championship.
The playoff continued for two more holes and Jake Cannon claimed the first alternate spot after managing a par on Hole 4. Christian James is our second alternate from Glendale.
