Wilson Wins State Amateur Qualifying at Davis Park with Six-Under 65

Josh Wilson earned the win at the Davis Park State Amateur Qualifying by posting six-under 65. Wilson was bogey free on the front with birdies on 3, 5 and 9 to card three-under 33 going out. He birdied three of his first four holes on the back nine with one bogey on No. 11 and another birdie on 16 to finish the round at three-under 32 coming in.
Jake Godfrey claimed the runner-up title and the second qualifying spot with a 66 (-5). Godfrey made eight birdies and three bogeys on the day to advance to the 119th Utah State Amateur Championship. Stephen Lindsey and Corey Matthews also qualified at four-under 67, and eight other contestants finished their rounds under par.
A five-way playoff at 73 (+2) determined the final three spots and two alternates. Tanner Howard, Robert Woods and Jared Empey advanced as qualifiers, and Jeff Harbertson and Kaden Lott were named first and second alternates.

The final Utah State Amateur qualifying of the 2017 season, the Last Chance Qualifier at Glendale Golf Course, opens for registration at UGA.org tomorrow, June 27th at 8:00 a.m. This event fills quickly.
