Swapp Tops State Am Qualifying at Logan River with five-under 66

Braydon Swapp rose to the top of the leaderboard at the Logan River Golf Course Utah State Amateur Qualifying after posting a five-under 66. Swapp hit the ground running with a birdie on his first hole of the day and back-to-back birdies on Nos. 3 and 4. He carded a 33 (-2) on the front with one bogey on No. 8. He was bogey free on the back with birdies on 10, 13 and 16 to post another 33 on the back nine and claim the victory and the first qualifying spot.

Chase Lansford finished the day at three-under 68, while Kohner Knowles and Jayce Frampton were tight on his heels at 69 (-2). Alex Herzog also finished in the red at one-under 70. Sixteen qualifying spots and two alternates were available. Three competitors made the cut at 75 (+4), and Scott Nielson carded at five-over 76 to claim first alternate. Following a three-way playoff at 77, Karl Avant advanced against Tanner Eldredge and Brett Higgins to claim second alternate.

The final Utah State Amateur qualifying of the 2017 season, the Last Chance Qualifier at Glendale Golf Course, opens for registration at tomorrow, June 27th at 8:00 a.m. This event fills quickly.
