Of the 26 competitors who qualified for the 119th Utah State Amateur Championship, 12 posted red numbers at the Rose Park (PM) Qualifier. Spots were limited in a full field of 84 players, putting the heat on the contenders in an already impressively talented field.

Ike Tingey, Nicklaus Britt and Luke Crapo rose about the rest by carding five-under 67 to end the day in a three-way tie for medalist and earn first-class tickets to the stroke play portion of the championship.

Not far behind the leaders, Caleb Summerhays, Bryan Dalton and Devery Stewart all posted 69s (-3) to advance. Seventy-three made the cut line, and an eight-way tie at 74 determined the first and second alternates. Luke Morgan outlasted the others to earn first alternate, and Daniel Hafen was named second alternate.
