Utah Valley’s Bursey Shoots Career-Low 6-under-par 66 at Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational

Princeville, Kauai—Blair Bursey is in a tie for second place at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational after carding a career-best single round score of 6-under-par 66 on Sunday at the Makai Golf Club in Kauai.
As a team, Utah Valley sits in a tie with UC Irvine and Idaho for 16th in the 19-team field after shooting a 14-over-par 302 on Sunday. Mississippi leads the tournament after one round at 11-under-par 277.
“Blair was two over through seven and then played his final 11 holes at 8-under-par,” Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran said. “Unfortunately as a team we still have quite a bit of work to do.”
Bursey's career-best 6-under-par 66 included two eagles and five birdies. The junior is in a tie for second with Missouri's Hayden Buckley. He is just one shot behind first round leader Mateusz Gradecki of East Tennessee State.
JT Timmons is tied for 53rd after shooting a 3-over-par 75. Timmons recorded a pair of birdies and 12 pars during round one. Ariel Elftman-Hanson carded a 6-over-par 78 in round one and is tied for 82nd.
Cedric Laverdure, who is playing the tournament as an individual, is tied for 87th after recording a 7-over-par 79. Payton Stott is tied for the 104th spot after shooting an 11-over-par 83. Gabe Laysen rounded out the scoring for the Wolverines, posting a 13-over-par 85 as he sits in 109th on the individual leaderboard.
Utah Valley will play its second round of the three-round tournament on Monday. The Wolverines will tee off at 8 a.m. HT/12 p.m. MT on Monday. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com.
