Three qualifying and two alternate spots were up for grabs at the U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifier at Oakridge Country Club. Of 48 talented competitors, only three will advance to the USGA championship event at Stonewall Links in Elverson, Pennsylvania, September 10-15, 2016.

Ryan Brimley secured medalist honors and the first qualifying spot by carding 67 (-5) with 34 on the front and 33 on the back. Brimley started the day strong with a bogey-free front nine, an eagle on 11, and back-to-back birdies on Nos. 15 and 16.

Brandon Hargett and Darrin Overson tied for the runner-up position and the second and third qualifying spots at three-under 69. Hargett carded 35 on the front and 34 on the back with three bogeys and six birdies. Overson birdied three of the first nine holes to shoot 33 and made two bogeys and two birdies on the back to shoot even-par 36.

Jon Wright, Clark Jones, and Philip Kalivas finished in a three-way tie for fourth place at two-under 70. A seven-hole playoff decided the first alternate as Jon Wright and the second alternate as Clark Jones.
