Palmer Shoots 68 to Take Early Lead at Women’s State Am

By Megan Terry

Sadie Palmer was the only player in the 110th Utah Women’s State Amateur field to shoot under par during the first round of 36-hole stroke play qualifying. The newly hired Southern Utah University assistant golf coach fired four-under-par 68 at Victory Ranch to take the early lead by five strokes over Tess Blair.

Palmer made two bogeys and two birdies on the front nine to post even par and picked up speed on the back. She birdied the par-5 No. 12, made par on the thirteenth hole, and then birdied holes 14 through 17 to post four-under 32.

The second round of stroke play qualifying began this morning at 8 a.m. at Victory Ranch in Kamas, Utah.
