Great Weather Brings Exciting Golf to Round 1 of 2016 Winterchamps
ST. GEORGE, Utah – Sunny skies set the scene for Round 1 of 2016 Winterchamps as the players enjoyed warm weather and exciting golf for the second year in a row.
Connor Howe and Ben Jorgensen share the lead in the Men's Division with 47 Stableford points, while JT Timmons trails just two points behind with 45 points. The men played today at The Ledges and will conclude the two-day tournament at SunRiver Golf Course.
The race for the Senior Division title is in close competition as Joe Ligon leads with 40 Stableford points. Randy Hicken, Pat Murphy, and Mike Davis are in a three-way tie in second at 38 points. Kirk Siddens is far from out of the race at 37 points, just three points behind Ligon. After playing Round 1 at Sky Mountain Golf Course, the final round of Winterchamps for the seniors will be held at The Ledges.
Haley Dunn’s impressive 46 Stableford points earned her a seven-stroke lead over Kelsey Chugg's 39 points in the Women’s Division. The women played Round 1 at SunRiver and will play for the championship at Sky Mountain.
Stew Walz and Marty Becker share the Super Senior Division lead at 31 points. Steven Brinton, Bob Conrad, and Heber Jacobsen are hot on their heels in a three-way tie with 30 points. The super seniors will play Round 2 at Sky Mountain after today’s first round at SunRiver.
