UVU Mgolf: Utah Valley finishes in a tie for 11th at Loyola Intercollegiate
GOODYEAR, Ariz.—The Utah Valley University men's golf team finished in a tie for 11th in the 17-team field at the Loyola Intercollegiate on Tuesday, shooting a three-round score of 9-over-par 873 (287-293-293). JT Timmons tied for 20th on the individual leaderboard with a three0round score of 2-under-par 214 (73-70-71).
“It was a disappointing week,” Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran said. “We couldn't chip or putt all three days. We didn't make enough birdies, bottom line. This young team is struggling to find consistency.”
Arkansas State won the team title with a 31-under-par 833 (279-281-273). Indiana placed third at 842 (-22) and James Madison finished third at 847 (-17). ASU's tanner Napier won individual medalist honors with a three-round score of 18-under-par 198 (66-68-64).
Timmons carded a 1-under-par 71 in Tuesday's final round to finish in a tie for 20th with a three-day total of 2-under-par 214 (73-70-71)—his fifth straight top-20 finish of the season. Timmons recorded three birdies and 13 pars in his final round.
Blair Bursey tied for 41st at the tournament with a three-round score of 3-over-par 219 (70-75-74). The sophomore carded a 2-over-par 74 in Tuesday's final round with two birdies and 13 pars.
Perry Wright finished in a tie for 61st after recording a final round 3-over-par 75. Wright finished with a three-day score of 6-over-par 222 (72-75-75). Dalton Jackson registered a 6-over-par 78 on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 71st with a three-round score of 8-over-par 224 (73-73-78).
Ariel Elftman-Hanson rounded out the scoring for the Wolverines with a three-day total of 10-over-par 226 (72-81-73). He shot a 1-over-par 73 in Tuesday's final round to move up seven spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 77th.
Next up for Utah Valley will be the Bandon Dunes Championship in Bandon, Ore.. The tournament will take place March 6-8 at the Bandon Dunes Resort.
