Dixie State's women's golf team climbed up two spots on the leaderboard in final round of play to finish sixth-overall at the 2016 California Baptist Women's Invitational at the Eagle Glen Golf Course Tuesday in Corona, Calif. Fellow Pacific West Conference members CBU and Academy of Art finished the second round tied for the tournament lead at +50 626 to force a playoff, which the host Lancers won to claim the team title.
Sophomore Cobair Collinsworth (Sandy, Utah/Brighton HS) (79-80) was DSU's top finisher as she finished in a tie for 11th place at 158 (+15), while senior Shelby Madden (Iroquois Falls, Ontario Canada/Iroquois HS) (84-79) carded the Storm's best round of the day with a 7-over 79 to finish tied for 22nd at 163 (+19). “We improved and moved up [the leaderboard] today so I'll take it,” Head Coach Rachel Harmon said. “We learned a lot today with everyone being on this road trip together. I saw some good things out on the course and good attitudes.”
Dixie State will also stay close to home to play in the annual BYU Entrada Classic at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George March 14-15.
