Snedeker Wins Windy Farmers; Finau Finishes 18th

In the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Brandt Snedeker shot what he described as the ‘best round he has ever played’ but he had to wait an extra day to get the first place prize his round deserved.

He shot a 69 on Sunday in the heart of one of the worst storms possible, and shortly after he posted his score the tournament was suspended and the field behind him got a reprieve from the weather and a chance to catch him the next day.

The wind was nearly as severe on Monday and no one in the field caught Snedeker. The Monday right was played before the smallest crowd ever in a PGA Tour event, zero. Spectators were not permitted because of safety concerns from the debris of the storms.

Tony Finau also finished his final round on Sunday, and sitting on the sidelines worked just fine for him.  He advanced nine places and finished tied for 18th on rounds of three 71s and a final round of 77 in that bad weather. He pocketed $79,000 and moved his earnings for the year to $409,000.

Zac Blair missed the cut and the storm. Daniel Summerhays didn’t enter.
