Duensing Starts 2016 With Sizzling 61 at St. George Am

The 2016 golfing season got off to a whiz-bang start for Charlie Duensing in the first round of the St. George Amateur on Friday as he posted a back nine 28 and an 18-hole score of 61. It gives him a five shot lead over Rhett Rasmussen and Patrick Fishburn going into the final round on Saturday.

Duensing had his putter zinging.  His bogey-free round included three eagles and seven birdies.

Rasmussen and Fishburn posted 66s that are usually low enough to lead any tournament, but the BYU duo finds themselves five shots behind Duensing.

Senior Kirk Siddens stands alone in fourth place at 67 and Spencer Dunaway and another Cougar, Kai Ruiz, are at 68.

The leaders are as follows:

61- Charlie Duensing

66- Rhett Rasmussen, Patrick Fishburn

67- Kirk Siddens

68- Spencer Dunaway, Kai Ruiz

69- Zach Pritchard, Darrin Overson, CJ Lee, Taylor Yardley, Preston Alder, Caden Hamill
