Utah Has Solid first day showing at Southwest Team Challenge

After the first round of the Southwest Team Challenge, the boys from Utah find themselves near the top of the leaderboard.  The tournament features four-player teams from a number of states.  Two players on the team must be seniors and two players play as mid-amateurs.  Each age group of the team plays a four-ball and the two four-ball scores are combined to get an overall team total.  The scoring is done in a stableford format where the higher number of points you earn the better your score is.  Three teams are representing Utah in the competition:

Utah Team #1

Darrin Overson
David Jennings
Kirk Siddens
Mike Jorgensen

Utah Team #2

Cameron Crawford
Kurt Owen
Craig Wilson
Pat Murphy

Utah Team #3

Bill Probst
Karl Avant
Todd Barker
Mike Hacker

Team #2 for Utah leads the group sitting alone in second place after the first round of competition.  Team #2 put up 82 points to trail the leaders from Arizona by a single point.  Team #1 sits only one point behind their Utah counterpart with a first day score of 81 points.  The all senior Team #3 also played well and find themselves in 9th place and only 10 points off the lead.  All three teams are within striking distance of the leaders from Arizona with two rounds yet to be played.
