WSU Wraps up Fall Season with 9th Place Finish
BEALLSVILLE, Md. — The Weber State men's golf team concluded the 2015 fall season on Tuesday as they posted a ninth place finish at the Georgetown Intercollegiate at the Members Club at Four Steams.
After frost delays on Monday wiped out the opening round, reducing the tournament from 54 holes to 36, the Wildcats posted a score of 310 to place 10th after the first day of competition. On Tuesday, Weber State turned in a score of 305, moving up one spot into ninth with a total of 615.
Weber State was led by Alex Herzog, who shot rounds of 71 and 73 for a two-over-par total of 144 to earn a tie for fourth place overall. The finish was the first top-5 finish for the sophomore, setting a career-best mark.
Princeton earned the team title, edging Rhode Island by three shots with a total of 592. Illinios State finished six shots off the pace in third place, while tournament host Georgetown finished fourth at 599.
Princeton's Quinn Prchal shot a final round 67 to rally from a tie for 8th place to force a playoff for the individual title at two-under-par 140, but Rhode Island's BIlly Walthouse won the medalist honors on the first extra hole. William & Mary's David Hicks finished third overall at 143.
Devon Purser shot 154 for Weber State to finish in a tie for 34th, while Colton Dallimore shot 157 to tie for 41st. Luke Crapo tied for 53rd at 160 and Kyler Dearden shot 167 to finish 66th, rounding out the Wildcats' team.
