2016 PGA Tour Gets Underway; Summerhays, Finau Tie for 34th

Daniel Summerhays and Tony Finau tied for 34th place in the Fry’s.com Championship at Silverado Country Club in Napa, California. It was the opening event of the 2016 PGA Tour. Zac Blair missed the cut, but all three former Utah State Am champions had a successful 2015 season and maintained their exempt status on the PGA Tour for the 2016 season.

Summerhays got off to a good start with an opening round of 67, but couldn’t match it the rest of the week and his second round of 74 kept him out of the top ten. Finau was a steady plugger with rounds of 70-69-70-72-281.

Blair played poorly and missed the cut on rounds of 75-77-152.

The tournament was won by Emiliano Grillo in a playoff against Kevin Na. They finished at 15 under par and Grillo won with a birdie on the second playoff hole.
