UVU WGolf: Wolverines move up three spots, finish 11th at PLH Invite
LAKEWOOD, Wash. – All five Utah Valley University women's golfers posted scores in the 70s during Tuesday's final round of competition at Seattle U's Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, as the Wolverines moved up three spots on the leaderboard to finish the tournament in a tie for 11th place with a three-round total of 945.
After totaling scores of 313 and 326 on Monday, UVU responded by firing an 18-over-par 306 during Tuesday's final round.
Junior Kimberly Nyhus paced the Wolverines during Tuesday's final round by carding a 3-over-par 75. Freshman Pernille Echberg and seniors Kalea Heu and Cassandra Lesa were next as they all carded 77s (+5), while redshirt freshman Carly Dehlin rounded out the group with a 6-over 78.
The freshman Echberg led UVU at the tournament by tying for 33rd place with a three-round tally of 17-over 233 (77-79-77). Heu finished one shot back of Echberg to earn a share of 36th place with an 18-over 234 (74-83-77), while Nyhus and Dehlin both tied for 53rd with identical 240s. Lesa rounded out UVU's field of five at the tournament as she tied for 67th with a 243.
With a three-round total of 945, UVU tied for 11th place with fellow WAC foe Grand Canyon. The Pac-12 Washington Huskies won the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational at 1-over-par (865), while Idaho took second (896) and Gonzaga placed third (901). UW's Julianne Alvarez took home individual medalist honors at 5-under-par (211).
Utah Valley redshirt freshman Ana Raga too took part at the PLH Invite as an individual and placed 76th with a three-round total of 249 (83-85-81).
The 2015 Pat Lesser Invitational was contested at the Tacoma Country Club in Lakewood.
The Wolverines will now be off Oct. 24-25 when they'll close the fall portion of their 2015-16 season at the Cal Poly Lady Mustang Invitational.
