Arizona Snares One-Point Lead at Shootout Intermission

The first day of the 25th Annual Utah-Arizona Shootout didn’t decide much, except that the final day should be a doozie! The matches are being held at Jeremy Country Club and Arizona holds a one point lead, 18 ½ to 17 ½.

Utah won the Foursomes segment in the morning by one point and Arizona won the Four-Ball segment in the afternoon by two points.

The final day format features 12 individual matches with three points available in each match. Thus 36 points, half the total, are up for grabs Tuesday.

Utah’s women players, Kelsey Chugg and Sadie Palmer, have kept the team in contention and if they can each sweep their points tomorrow it would put the Utah team in good position to win the match. Utah’s women swept Arizona in the afternoon matches and are hoping they can play as well in the individual format Tuesday morning. The women will set the tone for the day.
