UVU WGolf: Lesa’s 73 highlights day two for UVU women at Aggie Invite
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Utah Valley University senior Cassandra Lesa moved up 21 spots on the leaderboard after carding a 1-over-par 73 during Tuesday's second round of play at the NM State Aggie Invitational in Las Cruces. Lesa recorded one bogey and 17 pars en route to tallying her 73.
After Tuesday's solid round, Lesa now finds herself leading the way for UVU, as she'll enter Wednesday's final round tied for 31st place with a two-round total of 7-over (151). Besides recording the 73, the Wolverine senior also carded a 78 during Monday's opening round.
Fellow senior Kalea Heu is right behind Lesa, as she sits in a tie for 39th place with a two-round total of 8-over (152). After tallying a 75 on Monday, Heu came through with a 5-over-par 77 on Tuesday.
As a team, the Wolverines remain in 12th place out of 14 squads with a two-round total of 614 (+38). After opening the tournament with a 308 on Monday, UVU responded with an 18-over-par 306 on Tuesday.
BYU still finds itself atop the leaderboard at 7-under-par (569), while the host New Mexico State Aggies are in second place at 4-under (573). NM State's Viviana Macias is the current tournament individual leader at 5-under-par (139).
Redshirt freshman Carly Dehlin, junior Kimberly Nyhus and freshman Katie Perkins are also participating for the Wolverines at the tournament and they sit in 59th, 68th and 69th places, respectively, after carding a 78, an 83 and a 78 on Tuesday. Fellow redshirt freshman Ana Raga is also taking part at the tournament as an individual and she'll enter Wednesday's final round in 67th place after putting up an 80 on Tuesday.
The three-day, 54-hole Aggie Invitational, which is being contested at the NM State Golf Course, will conclude on Wednesday. The final round of the tournament is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. MT with a shotgun start.
