UVU Mgolf: JT Timmons leads Utah Valley after two rounds at OGIO Utah Invitational
PARK CITY, Utah—The Utah Valley University men's golf team sits in ninth place in the 13-team field at the OGIO Utah Invitational after shooting a two-round score of 16-over-par 584 (300-284) on Monday at The Jeremy Golf and Country Club in Park City, Utah.
“Today was a tale of two stories,” said Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran. “We hit it terrible this morning. Big numbers killed us. In the second round we stepped up and put together a good round.”
JT Timmons led the Wolverines with a two-round score of even par 142. The junior recorded an impressive six birdies in his first round of the day for a 1-under-par 70. He followed up that performance with a 1-over-par 72. Timmons sits in a tie for 15th heading into Tuesday's final round.
Blair Bursey is in a tie for 20th after shooting a 2-under-par 69 in round one and a 3-over-par 74 in round two for a two-round score of 143.
Cedric Laverdure, who is competing individually at the tournament, sits in a tie for 25th place after recording a two-round 2-over-par 144. Laverdure shot a 3-under-par 68 in round one—the lowest round of the day for the Wolverines. He wrapped up the day with a 5-over-par 76 in round two.
Perry Wright is in a tie for 51st place after shooting a two-round 9-over-par 151 (79-72). Dalton Jackson is also in a tie for the 51st spot after shooting a 151 (77-74). Ariel Elftman-Hanson is in a tie for 54th after carding a 10-over par 152 (81-71).
Derek Smith rounded out the scoring for UVU with a two-round 15-over-par 157 (79-78).
Utah Valley will play the final round of the OGIO Utah Invitational on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
