Brimley Still Alive at Mid-Am; McMullin Misses Cut by One

The USGA Men’s Mid-Am championship ran into a weather delay and the final qualifying round will not be completed until Monday.

Utah’s Ryan Brimley is in position to advance to match play, but he still has three holes to play to complete his second round.  He is currently tied for 37th place and 64 advance to match play. However, because of ties there are numerous players involved in the battle for those last spots.

Brimley was plus three after the first round and now stands at plus four. The cut is anticipated to be at plus five.

Darrin Overson and Robbie Fillmore have completed their rounds and have missed the cut. Overson shot 82-78 and is tied for 217th. Fillmore shot 80 the first day and a 73 the second day, but is tied for 137th place.

On the women’s side of the USGA Mid Am Julie McMullin missed the cut by one shot. She shot 81-84-165. She was the only Utahn in the competition.

Utahns are familiar with Tui Selvaratnam of Sri Lanka and she shot 81-83-164 to barely make the cut. She was in a tie for 58th place. Selvaratnam has played in numerous Utah-Arizona Shootouts on the Arizona team.
