Eddy Brothers Win Both Division of Ben Lomond Senior Am
Jerry and Lou Eddy, both of Ben Lomond Golf Club, are brothers and play together often, but it’s very seldom when they each enter a tournament and each win first place as they did Saturday at their home course.
Lou, playing in the 50-62 Division of the Ben Lomond Senior Amateur, and Jerry, playing in the 63 and over Division, each won their respective divisions.
Jerry had his hands full in winning the younger division because Kirk Siddens, one of the best senior players in the state, was entered and was the clear cut favorite to win. However, the Eddy boys know all about every blade of grass at Ben Lomond, even down to which way they tilt. Jerry played the course in four under par, which is rather ho-hum for him at Ben Lomond.
Siddens made seven birdies, truly indicative of his playing ability, but he also made atypical five bogeys. That’s because the greens are small and generally elevated a bit, and if you miss them it is very difficult to get the ball up-and-down. That was the main cause of his five bogeys.
Lou Eddy, playing in the 63 and Over Division, had an eagle and three birdies and won the older division by two shots over Gary Schenk.
