Spieth Misses Second Straight Cut; Finau Joins Him on the Sidelines
Charley Hoffman leads the Duetsche Bank Classic at the halfway point, but the big news is that the number one player in the world, Jordan Spieth, missed the cut for the second straight tournament.
Zac Blair and Daniel Summerhays are tied for 21st and have a chance to move up the FedEx ladder during the last two rounds of the tournament. Blair shot 70-69-139 and Summerhays shot 71-68-139.
Spieth shot 75-73-148 and missed the cut by three shots. Finau shot 76-74-150 and missed the cut by five shots.
Finau went into this week’s FedEx playoff in 32nd place and will drop in the standings, but will not face elimination. It will make it much more difficult for him to make the final round of the Fed Ex Championship. Only the top 30 players advance to the final round.
Next week is the BMW Championship and includes the top 70 ranked players and Finau will be one of them.
Making the cut was big for Summerhays and Finau and assures that they will be playing next week in the BMW Championship. Going into this week Summerhays is ranked 40th and Blair is 45th. Good showings the final two rounds would improve their BMW positions.
